The key to future accredited members of SLH is an extensive quality assessment. After a successful audit by an independent auditor, a hospital becomes "Accredited Member of the Swiss Leading Hospitals". An audit report may indicate in which areas the candidate must accomplish improvements within a set period of time. Adherence to the demanding SLH guidelines is audited in a three-year cycle. Triggered by evidence that quality standards are not fully met, SLH may perform an unannounced audit of a hospital to verify whether the quality standards as defined by SLH are met.
